The Care Act

The Care Act is the most significant reform of care and support in over 60 years. Its purpose is to put people and their carers in control of their care and support.

Over the past 70 years the law on care and support has been added to again and again making it difficult for people who need care, carers and often even those who manage the care system to understand how it worked. The Care Act is a single modern law that attempts to make clear what kind of care people should expect.

You could benefit from the changes if you:

  • receive care and support
  • support someone as a carer
  • are planning for future care and support
