Are you passionate about health and social care?

Do you want to make a positive difference within your local community?

Do you have a few hours spare?

If so, why not volunteer with Healthwatch Medway today!

What is volunteering?

Volunteering can be defined as any activity that involves spending time, unpaid, doing something that aims to benefit the environment or someone (individuals or groups) other than, or in addition to close relatives. Central to this definition is the fact that volunteering must be a choice freely made by each individual. This can include formal activity undertaken through public, private and voluntary organisations as well as informal community participation.

(Volunteer England, 2014)

Who can volunteer?

To volunteer with us, you must either reside within Medway or a service user of health and social care within the our 5 towns and over the age of 18 years.

We believe that everyone is unique and has something valuable to contribute from sharing life experiences, skills and knowledge to untapped talent and the willingness to make a real difference to society.

What are we looking for?

You do not need any qualifications to become a Healthwatch Champion; just a willingness to listen and talk to a range of individuals, an open mind and a desire to raise the voice of local people.

As a Healthwatch Volunteer you can undertake as much or as little as you like from a range of specific roles. Volunteering your time should not be taxing but rewarding to benefit you and the wider community. Times are flexible to work around you and we ask for a commitment of 4 hours a month minimum.

More Information about Volunteering at Healthwatch Medway 1. Healthwatch Medway wants to show that it is fair about how it shares out its Volunteering Roles to local people. As part of being fair, Healthwatch Medway will use a check-list (criteria) to look at what skills a person says they have to what skills the Volunteer role says it needs. The list of skills to do with the Volunteer role can be found in the Volunteer Role description. Do not worry if the skills you put on your application form do not match exactly the skills on the Volunteer 'Role Description' you want to do - Healthwatch Medway is keen to work with local people to develop their skills.
